The Dancing Boy Who Was Camera Shy

This morning, Cameron grabbed a flashlight and started "singing" and dancing. He wiggled and strutted and held the flashlight up like a microphone.

His "singing" consisted of him yelling "Yah, yah, yah" at the top of his lungs, and occassionally holding the note for several seconds.

He's done this before, but this morning, I got my camcorder out to video him.

He immediately stopped singing and dancing, and then pouted at me. First, he threw the "microphone" down angrily. Then, deciding that didn't express his opinion well enough, he picked it back up and went and hid the "microphone" under the couch.

I put the camcorder away, and within minutes, he went and got the flashlight back out to use as his microphone and started singing and wiggling again.

Cameron's "Yah! Yah! Yah!" was heard throughout the house again.

My camcorder is tiny. It's just a FlipHD, so I tried to be sneaky about filming him and hoped he wouldn't see me. He did. Immediately.

He did the exact same thing as before, complete with the pout, the throwing of the "microphone" and then the hiding of the "microphone."

So I have no adorable and funny video of my little 1 1/2 year old dancing and singing to show you.

It's just too stinking cute not to have it on video to share with you (and keep as a video memory).

So I will try again next time. Eventually, I will capture his behavior on video.

By the way, I really love my totally silly and independent little boy.

Cameron's 1st Haircut

Despite the fact that I knew it would remove his beautiful baby curls, it was finally time to give in and let Cameron get his first haircut. We have our own trimming set, so it was up to Robert to cut Cameron's hair.

We both worried a little bit because our son Connor is terrified of getting his hair cut with the trimmer and usually fights us while we do his hair. We hoped that Cameron would do better, and he did! He smiled throughout most of the haircut. Towards the end, he started getting a bit bored, but that was a pretty natural response.

And, as I always notice when Connor gets his hair cut too, Cameron's eyes looked so much bigger with his hair really short. He's a gorgeous baby boy.

And the good news is that, because Cameron had been so calm during his hair cut, when we cut Connor's hair afterwards, Connor was not as fearful or bothered by the process and did not fight us!

Toddling

Cameron is toddling all over the place now, but usually not more than 5 steps at a time. He still prefers the speed and stability of his crawling. It isn't going to be much longer though before he'll be running around with his brothers and sisters on his little chubby legs.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Hqappy St. Patrick's Day!

Gabriella, Isabella and Connor all wanted to wish you a happy St. Patrick's Day too.

Everyone Loves A Baby

Isabella loves to kiss and cuddle Cameron. At times, I think she is squeezing him to tightly, but he always laughs and smiles. Today, Connor wanted to join in and give Cameron kisses to.

A 3 Year Old's Understanding Of Death

When Isabella woke up from her nap, I told her the news about Caspian. She cried, "Noooooo!" and, with tears in her eyes, "That means we won't ever see Caspian again just like Gambit." (Gambit, our other cat, died 11 months ago. And because of this, it appears that Bella has a better understanding of death than I thought she would.)

Way Too Big!

I bought Connor a Prince Charming long-sleeved dark kids' shirt from my Princess Parade shop at Printfection. I had bought a white kid's short-sleeved tee version of it previously from my Cafe Press Fyfe Photography shop, and he got lots of nice comments on it. Unfortunately, the white and light t-shirts stain easily and Cafe Press only offered white and light colors in Connor's size. So I bought the long-sleeved dark kids tee from my Printfection shop this time.

It's HUGE! I don't mean it is a little big on him; I mean it's gigantic! It is supposed to be a size 2-4. Connor is a tall-for-his-age 2 1/2 year old. Here's how the shirt looked on him:

So now I am e-mailing Printfection for a refund. *sigh* I was looking forward to Connor wearing this shirt. Darn it!

When To Potty Train

A friend came over last week with her kids. Her two year old is potty trained. Connor, my two year old, is not.

I tell myself that he is not ready yet. But is it that he is not ready, or is it that I am not ready? Potty training is very time-intensive. There will be times when I will have to make him sit on the potty when he would rather not. There will be accidents to clean up. There will be toting the portable potty training seat up the stairs to dump into the toilet, clean and bring back downstairs. There will be a lot of time involved in his potty training.

But there will also be a lot of money saved in not having to buy him diapers.

Is he ready? I'm not sure.

When Isabella was potty training last summer, Connor used to pull his pants down and sit on her portable potty training seat after she got up. His diaper was still on at the time, but nevertheless, he wanted to train too. Maybe that's enough for me to say he's ready.

Yes, Indeed!

Yesterday, Isabella dressed herself in a long white skirt and a white shirt with sparkles on it. She said, "Look at me, Mommy! I'm all sparkly!" I answered with, "Wow! You really are all sparkly!" Bella answered with, "Yes, indeed." Why does my little three year old uttering the words "Yes, indeed" make me giggle?

Giggle-fest

Connor is watching Disney's "Bear In The Big Blue House." In the beginning, Bear always smells something "nice" and realizes it is the children watching the show by sniffing his nose right up to the camera. Connor is laughing and squealing with glee at this! Isabella, when she's in the room, does the same thing. It doesn't matter how many times they see it, they always find it just as funny as the last time.

A Poem By Isabella

Isabella surprised us this morning by telling her daddy, "I want to tell you a poem, Daddy." (I didn't even realize she knew what a poem was.) Then she proceeded to tell us her poem.

"My doggy is pretty.
My doggy likes to run around.
My doggy goes for walks.
My doggy poos."

So there, for the world to see, is Bella's first ever "poem."

Isabella's 2nd Day At Preschool

Isabella has been saying for days now that she doesn't want to go to preschool again. On her first day of preschool, when her daddy asked her what she did at school, her answer was, "I cried."

We've been telling her what a big girl she is and how she gets to go to preschool because she is older now, but Connor can't because he is too young. Yesterday, on the phone with my mom, when my mom asked her how she was, Bella answered, "I'm older."

I made sure to let Isabella show me around her class today when I took her to preschool, so she could show me all of the fun stuff she would have to play with. I asked her to paint me a pretty picture to give me when I picked her up, and I told her I would just be going home to get her lunch ready for her before I came back to pick her up. She seemed fine when I left, and when I went to pick her up, she announced to me right away, "Mommy! I didn't cry!" and her teacher confirmed that she did not cry at all. She did paint me a picture but it was still drying, so I will have to pick it up during her next day at preschool.

I'm really pleased that she had a better preschool experience today!

Phone speak!

Isabella, our 1 1/2 year old , spoke on the phone for the first time today. She normally would insist on being allowed to have the phone whenever I am on it with someone, but when I would put her ear to it, she would listen and smile but not make a sound. Today, she not only said, "Hi Daddy," but she also said, "I love you," and "bye bye." Then she threw a tantrum when I took the phone away. :)
